Good Night!
When disasters hit, children are among the most vulnerable, out of the 33 million affected due to the merciless monsoon floods, almost 16 million are children (UNICEF).
Back in August 2021 (just a year ago), UNICEF introduced the Children's Climate Risk Index (CCRI) to tell the world that the climate crisis is a child rights crisis. Pakistan was in 14th place out of 163 CCRI-ranked countries and regions.
Our children are in the 'extremely high-risk' category when it comes to climate.
Children in 'extremely high-risk' countries like Pakistan face a deadly combination of exposure to multiple climate shocks with high levels of underlying child vulnerability, due to inadequate essential services, such as water and sanitation, healthcare, and education.
