While the floods have caused havoc, another matter of immediate concern is the prevalence of the dengue virus. The twin cities (Rawalpindi and Islamabad) are undergoing a health crisis as their major hospitals are working at 'full-capacity' due to the rising number of dengue cases. Sindh - one of the worst affected by the floods has reported more than 3,072 cases of malaria and 1,098 of dengue fever this month.
As per epidemiological data, this situation is going to escalate in a week or so if the concerned government authorities fail to control the transmission of the dengue virus.
Health experts have advised the citizens to strictly follow preventive measures as this may be the only way to contain a full-scale outbreak in the next few weeks.
Please take good care of yourself and those around you. Also, donate as much as possible to help those affected by the floods.
