Good Night!
The climate crisis is eroding our livelihoods and lifespans at a pace that outweighs our ability to counter its effects, even if we devise strategies that meet this challenge. We become attentive to these emergencies when losses become irreparable, and precious lives are lost.
These natural disasters affect vulnerable segments of our country such as women, children, transgenders, and people with disabilities (PWDs). According to the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), "almost 0.6 million pregnant women are in dire need of healthcare services during the ongoing devastating floods in Pakistan."
Let's not forget that 9.1 million women in Pakistan are agricultural workers and play an important role in food production, but they are largely unpaid, what would be their fate in the wake of a crisis like this?
GRAPHIC OF THE DAY
Pakistan ranks 152 out of 181 countries in the Notre-Dame-Gain Index, which calculated a country’s vulnerability to climate change and other global challenges as well as its readiness to improve resilience.
(The more vulnerable a country is the lower its score).

🇵🇰 🌊 The heat has been as relentless as the rain. In May, Pakistan consistently saw temperatures above 45 degrees Celsius (113 Fahrenheit). Scorching temperatures higher than 50 degrees Celsius (122 Fahrenheit) were recorded in places like Jacobabad and Dadu. Warmer air holds more moisture - about 7% more per degree Celsius (4% per degree Fahrenheit) — and that eventually comes down, in this case in torrents.
